Fun Fact: The Duncan Hines cake mix was developed in Omaha! The creator was Arlee Andre, a food chemist at Nebraska Consolidated Mills, who perfected the Duncan Hines mix by having the consumer add fresh eggs.

About
Stacy Newmaster, Cake4Kids Eastern Nebraska Ambassador
What or who inspired your love of baking?
The challenge! It is such fun to conquer the challenges and get to a point where baking becomes second nature. Baking is just the perfect activity no matter what mood you're in. It can make you cheerful when you're sad or angry, or make you ecstatic (if all goes well 🙂) when you're already full of joy.
What is the first thing you ever baked?
The first thing I remember baking is chocolate crinkles. I am very much a chocoholic and these were my absolute favorite as a kid. I can actually recall the day I asked my mom to help me make some and she said I could do it on my own.
What was your biggest #bakingfail?
Pasteis de Nata. My manager at the time, who was from Portugal, was leaving our team for a new position. During his last week with the team I attempted this bake 3 times and failed on each one. There was either raw pastry, burnt pastry, or curdled custard. I still have not attempted them again.
